Sponsor And Paid Promotion Disclosure

Disclosure rules for paid, gifted, affiliate, discounted, or otherwise compensated promotions.

Last updated: May 13, 2026

Creators must clearly disclose paid, gifted, affiliate, discounted, commissioned, or otherwise compensated promotions.

What Must Be Disclosed

Disclose when you:

  • are paid to mention, review, feature, link, stream, post, or recommend something;
  • receive free or discounted products or services;
  • use affiliate links or commission links;
  • have a brand, agency, sponsor, employer, investor, family, or other material connection;
  • receive any benefit that could affect how viewers understand your endorsement.

Disclosure Must Be Clear

The disclosure must be hard to miss and close to the endorsement. Do not hide it in a profile bio, at the bottom of a long description, behind a link, or in vague tags.

Good examples:

  • "Sponsored by ___"
  • "Paid partnership with ___"
  • "I may earn a commission from this link"
  • "Gifted by ___"

Weak or unclear examples may be treated as no disclosure.

Truthful Claims

Creators must not make false claims, fake reviews, fake endorsements, fake before/after results, misleading health or financial claims, fake official relationships, fake product safety claims, or deceptive performance claims.

Banned Or Regulated Products

Some products are banned or restricted. Regulated products such as alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, gambling, weapons, financial products, medical products, supplements, adult products, political ads, or high-risk services may be forbidden or require additional legal compliance.

Chi'llywood Actions

Chi'llywood may label, remove, restrict, demonetize, hold, or suspend undisclosed or deceptive sponsored content. Future sponsor payments may be held or forfeited to the extent allowed by law and provider rules if the promotion violates disclosure, fraud, safety, copyright, or payment rules.

Current Status

Sponsor checkout, brand payment, sponsor activation, payout split execution, and live sponsor money are not active in current repo truth. Existing sponsor/fraud functions are preflight/foundation-only unless a later release proves otherwise.
